If the Quaker Valley Quakers were feeling good off their 73-47 takedown of the East Allegheny Wild Cats on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Quaker Valley was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 46-45 to West Mifflin. Quaker Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as West Mifflin apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Several Quakers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joey Coyle, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds. The contest was Coyle's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zach Washington, who scored 11 points.
Quaker Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for West Mifflin, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Quaker Valley won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Our Lady of the Sacred Heart at 7:00 p.m. on January 6th. As for West Mifflin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South Allegheny at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Allegheny presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than West Mifflin in Pennsylvania (South Allegheny is ranked 78th, while West Mifflin is ranked 308th).
