Maggie Walker had lost five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 5-8 to make it six. They lost 15-4 to the J.R. Tucker Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against J.R. Tucker this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-3 back in March.
Maggie Walker saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hadley Walder, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another was Kylea New, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
As for J.R. Tucker, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. Considering they have won seven matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
On J.R. Tucker's side, Kendall Shockley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Shockley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Corinne Lewis was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Miyah Williams was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maggie Walker will face off against Colonial Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Minuteman have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.75 runs per game on average), something Maggie Walker will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for J.R. Tucker, they will challenge Hermitage at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
