The Tuscola Mountaineers lost against the Franklin Panthers back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Tuscola took a serious blow against the Panthers, falling 66-37. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tuscola in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost eight in a row.
Tuscola's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kendall Williamson, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds, and Sofia Wijewickrama who scored eight points.
Franklin's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cali Queen, who scored 16 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Audrey Pressley, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Tuscola has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Franklin, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.
Tuscola will head out on the road to square off against the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Henderson is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for Franklin, they will be playing at home against the Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Pisgah's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches.
