The Council Grove Braves were the 59-48 winner over the Silver Lake Eagles when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Council Grove fell 59-49 to Silver Lake on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that Council Grove has lost by exactly ten points.
Council Grove's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brycen Palmquist, who scored 22 points. Palmquist scored a full 44.9% of Council Grove's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kyzer Spittles was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Council Grove and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Silver Lake, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Council Grove will square off against Rock Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Silver Lake is on the road again on Friday and play against Riley County.
