The Town East Christian Eagles lost against the Vanguard Christian Knights last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Town East Christian fell 51-44 to the Knights.
When it comes to explaining why Town East Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Owen Cadena. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Steven Windhorst was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Town East Christian were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Vanguard Christian found their leader in underclassman Joshua Robertson, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Robertson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Colton Lyssy, who scored nine points.
Town East Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Vanguard Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Town East Christian will face off against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Vanguard Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Lions at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th.
