Ryan Alfaro Delivers Best Effort of Season
Deming was led to victory by Ryan Alfaro, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Alfaro rushed for 364 yards and five touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for 42 yards and a touchdown, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. His longest rush was for an incredible 93 yards.
Goddard's probably not too fond of Alfaro given he always seems to get the better of them. Back in November of 2023 (the last time Alfaro saw the Rockets), he rushed for 164 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.3 yards per carry.

Mathew Prudencio Sets Career High in Rushing Yards
Sadly, Mathew Prudencio posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Lovington over Mayfield on Friday. Prudencio threw for 348 yards and five touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 74 yards on only nine carries, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. Lovington is undefeated when Prudencio posts 250 or more passing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.
This is the second loss in a row for Lovington and nudges their season record down to 5-2. Prudencio and Lovington will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Gadsden at 6:00 p.m. on October 18th.

A Season-Best Effort from Jayden Gutierrez Leads Lovington over Mayfield
Sadly, Jayden Gutierrez posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Lovington over Mayfield on Friday. Gutierrez picked up 97 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He didn't just play on offense: he also picked up 0.5 sacks, made eight total tackles, and defended a pass.
On the year, Gutierrez has caught 9 touchdowns while averaging 84.6 receiving yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after seven games last season, he was only averaging 1.29 receiving yards per game.

Artesia's win bumped their record up to 5-2. Cazares and Artesia will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Roswell at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th.
