The Culver City Centaurs will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Ayala Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Culver City won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Santa Monica 27-26. Given Culver City's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 113th, while Santa Monica is ranked 296th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Culver City's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Pierce Reynoso, who rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown. Harley Moore also helped out with an impressive 100 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Ayala over Alta Loma in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Ayala blew Alta Loma out of the water with a 43-6 final score. With Ayala ahead 29-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Ayala's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maximus Barroso, who rushed for 52 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 45 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Duarte , who threw for 68 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Ayala's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Alta Loma's QB won't forget Nathan Bull anytime soon given Bull sacked him four times.
Culver City is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Ayala, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Culver City has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 303.6 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Ayala, though, as they've been averaging only 121.6 per game. How will Ayala fare against such a dominant passing game?
