It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Ramsay Rams had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 42-7 victory over Leeds. Considering Ramsay has won eight games by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Ramsay got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ashton Ashford out in front who rushed for 194 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Ashford hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Jayden Martin, who rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Another reason for the win was Ramsay's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Dy'lan Robinson was especially locked on to Leeds' QB and sacked him twice.
The win (which was Ramsay's sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.2 points per game. As for Leeds, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.
Ramsay will head out on the road to face off against Moody at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Moody is on a five-game streak of home wins, Ramsay a eight-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Leeds does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
