Milton had lost seven straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 0-11 to make it eight. They came up short against the Midd-West Mustangs, falling 11-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 on April 1st.
Louis Williams put in work no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Williams was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.
Williams wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Crawford, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double. That double was Crawford's first of the season.
As for Midd-West, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.
Like Milton, Midd-West also got a great game from a two-way player: Max Trawitz. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Trawitz has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Midd-West let River Knepp and Colton Aumiller run wild. Knepp went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Aumiller went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Midd-West is undefeated when Aumiller posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Derek Wert was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Milton will venture away from home to square off against Mount Carmel at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tornadoes' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Black Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Midd-West, they will head out on the road to face off against Danville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
