After a string of four wins, the Fauquier Falcons's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were beaten by Meridian 58-23. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Fauquier has scored all season.
Meridian was led to victory by Ellie Friesen and Maureen Tremblay. Friesen scored 20 points, while Tremblay dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Tremblay continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nora Stufft, who scored seven points.
Fauquier's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-6. As for Meridian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Fauquier will be playing at home against Handley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Handley is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Meridian, they will take on Skyline at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Skyline will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 287th, while Meridian is ranked 100th).
