Baseball Recap: Fountain Inn Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

While Fountain Inn put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Southside. The Fury were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Tigers. Considering the Fury have won seven games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Beau Barbre looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Carter Kelly and Mason Guion did most of the damage at the plate: Kelly scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Guion scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave Guion a new career-high. Crayton Bagwell also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Fountain Inn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southside didn't got any hits.

Fountain Inn is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Southside, they are on a 28-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Looking ahead, Fountain Inn will square off against Laurens at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Southside, they will face off against Emerald at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.85 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
