Baseball Recap: Kress Sets Scoring Season-High Against Olton

Kress scored the most runs they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They took an 18-15 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Olton Mustangs. The Kangaroos were not able to make up for their loss to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Jordan Burns made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Guzman, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Kress has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. Olton's win bumped their record up to 3-7.

Kress and Olton could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Kress will face off against San Jacinto Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday down 592 places (928 vs. 336). Kress has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. Similarly, Olton (ranked 1054th) will meet Sanford-Fritch (ranked 474th) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
