The Greendale Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Pewaukee Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Greendale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Greendale will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Monday, then bounced right back against New Berlin West on Tuesday. The Panthers blew past the Vikings 15-0. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won six in a row.
Greendale got a massive performance out of Macey St. Lawrence, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs St. Lawrence has posted over her last 13 games. Brooke Hart also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Greendale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Berlin West only posted a batting average of .100.
Pewaukee came out on top against Waukesha North on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Pirates walked away with an 8-3 win over the Northstars.
Hailey Hutchens made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Hutchens was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
In other batting news, Pewaukee let Madeline Jeffrey and Gillian Stelse run wild. Jeffrey went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Stelse went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. Samantha Brewster was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Greendale's record now sits at 13-3-1. As for Pewaukee, their record is now 13-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Greendale has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pewaukee struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
