For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Eastern Wayne and North Johnston have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Monday. The Warriors came up short against the Panthers, falling 10-3. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Warriors, who until this contest were averaging 3.92 runs allowed.
Eastern Wayne saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mallory Reed, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Douglas Byrd's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Eastern Wayne, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
Eastern Wayne's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Douglas Byrd hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .373. It's a different story for Eastern Wayne, though, as they've only averaged .190. Will they be able to contain Douglas Byrd's hitters?
