Baseball Recap: Dunkirk Makes It Seven in a Row on the Road

After only two runs in their last match, Dunkirk made sure to put some runs up on the board against Eden on Monday. The Marauders were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Raiders. The result was nothing new for the Marauders, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Danny Hoth looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, Josh Lemanski was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Paul Trippy was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Dunkirk was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .378. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Dunkirk's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Eden, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Dunkirk didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-2 victory against Frewsburg on the 20th. Eden does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
