Le Mars is 7-0 against the Yellowjackets since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. Both teams will face off at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Le Mars has five straight victories, the Yellowjackets have ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Le Mars didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Wolverines, but they still walked away with a 57-51 victory. Given Le Mars' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while the Wolverines are ranked 113th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Jefferson had to suffer through a rough 85-31 loss at the hands of the Crusaders. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jefferson in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now lost nine in a row.
Jefferson's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Demi Pane, who scored eight points, and Grace Strong who scored eight points along with six assists and three steals.
Le Mars' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3. As for Jefferson, their loss dropped their record down to 1-17.
Everything came up roses for Le Mars against the Yellowjackets in their previous meeting on Thursday as the team secured a 59-22 win. With Le Mars ahead 37-9 at the half, the match was all but over already.
