Spring Grove gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They strolled past the Northern York Polar Bears with points to spare, taking the game 31-14. The victory was some much needed relief for the Rockets as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.
A big part of the win came down to the chemistry between Davis Baum and his top target Kayleb Allen. Baum threw for 366 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 14.1 yards per attempt while Allen picked up 197 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Allen's longest reception was for an incredible 76 yards.
Spring Grove was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 449 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northern York only gained 133.
Spring Grove wouldn't let Northern York keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Bredon Smith, Tucker Bosley, and Devaris Thompson picked up one apiece.
Although Northern York took the loss, they still got scores from Tim Gunning and Owin Gilbert.
Spring Grove will challenge Cedar Crest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Northern York, they will look to take advantage of their home-field for the first time this season as they take on Mifflin County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
