It was a good run, but the Olathe West Owls unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Olathe Northwest by a score of 62-59. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Olathe West came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Olathe Northwest is ranked 81st).
Olathe Northwest got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Logan Burnett out in front who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jj Lee, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Olathe West's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-1. As for Olathe Northwest, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Olathe West will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Kansas City at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. As for Olathe Northwest, they will face off against Mill Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mill Valley is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
