The Mary Walker Chargers will be playing at home against the Soap Lake Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Mary Walker had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past Davenport with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 42-28. The victory was just what Mary Walker needed coming off of a 54-12 loss in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Soap Lake put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Pateros 58-6 on the road. With Soap Lake ahead 30-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Samuel Schopf was a one-man wrecking crew for Soap Lake as he rushed for 255 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Landdeck, who gained 118 total yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Soap Lake's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Grayson Pippens and Schopf who racked up six sacks between them.
Their wins bumped Mary Walker to 2-7 and Soap Lake to 4-5.
Mary Walker came up short against Soap Lake in their previous matchup back in September of 2018, falling 40-28. Can Mary Walker avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
