Football Recap: Brawley Skates Past Mar Vista with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brawley). They breezed past the Mar Vista Mariners to the tune of 41-0 on Saturday. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Mariners are ranked 446th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brawley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Dangelie Torrez and Kaylene Ojeda. Brawley is 2-1 when Ojeda posts one or more interceptions, but 0-4-1 otherwise. Torrez got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The victory made it two in a row for Brawley and bumps their season record up to 2-5-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 points in those games. As for Mar Vista, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Brawley has already played their next game, a 21-12 defeat against Imperial on the 23rd. As for Mar Vista, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 50-0 loss against Mater Dei Catholic on the 26th.
