Saranac had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Peru on Monday. The Spartans put the hurt on the Nighthawks with a sharp 9-2 victory. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Seth Petrashune made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
