The Sacred Heart Prep Gators waltzed into their matchup on Friday with ten straight wins dating back to last season but they left with 11. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Pinewood 68-38 at home. Sacred Heart Prep has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 21 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sacred Heart Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alex Osterloh, who scored 18 points along with four steals. It was the first time this season that Osterloh scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Alex Straser, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Sacred Heart Prep is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Pinewood, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sacred Heart Prep will challenge the Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Menlo School will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 261st, while the Gators are ranked 72nd). As for Pinewood, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Black Bears at 2:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Summit Shasta has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 850 points over their last 11 games.
