The Los Angeles CES Unicorns had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down University 51-36 on Friday. Given Los Angeles CES's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 315th, while University is ranked 898th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why University lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ian Uriarte. Despite the final result, he scored nine points along with 13 rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Syrus Azarbarzin, who scored four points along with three steals.
Los Angeles CES's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for University, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Los Angeles CES's road trip will continue as they head out to face Manual Arts at 2:30 p.m. on January 15th. Manual Arts is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games. As for University, they will take on St. Margaret's at 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
