The Zion Chapel Rebels will head out on the road to square off against the Goshen Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Zion Chapel has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Zion Chapel scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They blew past Pike Liberal Arts 82-61. Given Zion Chapel's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Pike Liberal Arts is ranked 357th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Slade Grantham continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 40 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Speckert, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Goshen had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Luverne 45-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Goshen has posted yet this season.
Zion Chapel has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Goshen, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-13.
Zion Chapel was able to grind out a solid win over Goshen in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 59-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Zion Chapel since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
