The East Chambers Buccaneers will head out on the road to face off against the Tarkington Longhorns at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tarkington took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on East Chambers, who comes in off a win.
Last Thursday, everything went East Chambers' way against Anahuac as East Chambers made off with a 35-15 win. The result was nothing new for East Chambers, who have now won four contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
East Chambers' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jaden Thibodeaux, who rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, and Hadyn Reeves, who rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Tarkington fell victim to Kirbyville's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Wildcats, falling 66-0. While losing is never fun, Tarkington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 784th, while Kirbyville is ranked 332nd).
East Chambers is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Tarkington has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-2 record this season.
East Chambers took their victory against Tarkington in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 36-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Chambers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
