Parklane Academy is 0-3 against Hillcrest Christian since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The pair will round out the year against one another at 7:30 p.m. at. Parklane Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Hillcrest Christian likes a good challenge.
Parklane Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 22 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Franklin County with a sharp 64-40 win last Saturday. Given Parklane Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Franklin County is ranked 187th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Hillcrest Christian had to suffer through a rough 54-26 loss at the hands of Pelahatchie. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hillcrest Christian has scored all season.
Hillcrest Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jordan Johnson, who scored eight points along with three blocks, and Severe McNeary who scored eight points.
Parklane Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Hillcrest Christian, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4.
Parklane Academy might still be hurting after the 61-38 defeat they got from Hillcrest Christian when the teams last played back in November of 2019. Can Parklane Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
