Bishop McNamara has won four straight games at home, while Newman Central Catholic has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Fightin' Irish will host the Comets at 11:00 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Bishop McNamara's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Kankakee as they made off with a 13-0 win.
Bishop McNamara let Callahan O'Connor and Devin Arbour run wild. O'Connor went 1-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Arbour got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. That's the most RBI O'Connor has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dom Panozzo, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Newman Central Catholic gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Monmouth-Roseville 19-6.
Chase Decker was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Garet Wolfe, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Newman Central Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matches.
Bishop McNamara is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Newman Central Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 22-3-1.
