The St. Stephens Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They were the victim of a tough 76-51 loss at the hands of Pine Ridge. While losing is never fun, St. Stephens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 42nd in Wyoming, while the Thorpes are ranked eighth in South Dakota).
Pine Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kanye Hollow Horn, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Hollow Horn scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Steele, who scored 14 points along with six assists and three steals.
St. Stephens' defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Pine Ridge, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Stephens will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Cougars at 2:00 p.m. on February 17th. As for Pine Ridge, they will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
