Trenton walked away with a 46-37 victory over Hilliard on Saturday. Given Trenton's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Hilliard is ranked 319th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Nyima Gillyard, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Trenton's points. Brianna Karanja was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 8 rebounds.
Trenton's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Hilliard, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Trenton will head out on the road to face off against Williston at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hilliard, they will be playing in front of their home fans against University Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
