The Boulder Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 51-50 to Fairview. Boulder has struggled against the Knights recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Boulder lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kyle Blauch. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 18 rebounds. Blauch hasn't dropped below 12 rebounds for six straight games. Cole Morrow was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Boulder smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairview only pulled down three offensive rebounds.
Spencer Brown continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fairview, scoring 21 points along with two steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Brown has scored at least a third of Fairview's points. Another player making a difference was Bekkem Kritza, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Boulder has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Fairview, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boulder will take on the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Broomfield knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully the Panthers likes a good challenge. As for Fairview, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Coyotes at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Monarch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
