Hooper Academy is 0-4 against Chambers Academy since December of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Hooper Academy Colts will stay at home for another game and welcome the Chambers Academy Rebels at 2:30 p.m. on December 28th. Hooper Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Chambers Academy likes a good challenge.
Even though Hooper Academy has not done well against Evangel Christian Academy recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. It was close, but Hooper Academy ultimately received the gift of a 61-58 victory from a begrudging Coltssquad. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while Evangel Christian Academy is ranked 277th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Chambers Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Lowndes Academy an easy 53-30 win. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Chambers Academy has scored all season.
Hooper Academy pushed their record up to 7-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for Chambers Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Hooper Academy came up short against Chambers Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2022, falling 52-44. Can Hooper Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
