The Armwood Hawks can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They blew past Lennard 52-27. Given Armwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Longhorns are ranked 447th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Amaya Richardson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Taylor Dickens, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Several Longhorns players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Victora Whitfield, who scored eight points along with two blocks. Ashlee Lovett was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Armwood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Lennard, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Armwood will take on the Stingrays at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Sumner's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups. As for Lennard, they will head out on the road to challenge the Yellow Jackets at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Blake is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
