The Mahanoy Area Golden Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Pen Argyl Green Knights at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mahanoy Area will be strutting in after a victory while Pen Argyl will be coming in after a loss.
Mahanoy Area entered their tilt with Shenandoah Valley with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Mahanoy Area took down Shenandoah Valley 35-17 on Friday.
Colm McGroarty was his usual excellent self, rushing for 241 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per carry. McGroarty hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Kyler Quick, who rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Pen Argyl fell victim to Bangor's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. The contest between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with the Green Knights falling 14-0.
Mahanoy Area's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 4-6. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Shenandoah Valley, Tri-Valley, and Panther Valley. As for Pen Argyl, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
Mahanoy Area was taken down by Pen Argyl 43-13 in their previous matchup back in September. Can Mahanoy Area avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
