The East Stroudsburg South Cavaliers will head out on the road to face off against the Stroudsburg Mountaineers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. East Stroudsburg South's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Stroudsburg's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
East Stroudsburg South took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over Pocono Mountain West.
Liam Huffman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Harrison Aillet, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Luke Domboroczky also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Stroudsburg sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over Pocono Mountain East on Wednesday.
Damian Budhai made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched six innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Budhai was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Stroudsburg let Paul Maccarrone and Ryan Pacitti run wild. Maccarrone went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Pacitti got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Luke Powanda, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
East Stroudsburg South's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Stroudsburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
East Stroudsburg South came up short against Stroudsburg when the teams last played back in March, falling 4-0. Can the Cavaliers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
