The Denair Coyotes won the last time they faced the Waterford Wildcats, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Denair came out on top against Waterford by a score of 58-48. The win made it back-to-back wins for Denair.
Denair found their leader in underclassman Koby Cervantes, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. Cervantes has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Barber, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds.
Waterford's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Izaiah Sanchez, who scored 16 points, and Christian Gayle who scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Sanchez scored 15 or more points. Santiago Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Denair pushed their record up to 9-11 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Waterford, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.
Coincidentally, Denair and Waterford will both be playing Delhi the next time they take the court. Denair will host Delhi at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Waterford will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
