The Custer County Bobcats entered their tilt with the La Veta Redhawks with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Custer County secured a 38-32 W over La Veta on Tuesday. That's two games straight that Custer County has won by exactly six points.
Custer County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Christopher Mullett out in front who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and six assists. That's the first time this season that Mullett pulled down eight or more rebounds. Levi Caricner was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Several Redhawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tristan Musgrave, who scored five points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Gonzales, who scored six points along with two steals.
Custer County pushed their record up to 3-2 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points per game. As for La Veta, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Custer County will head out on the road to face off against Sangre de Cristo at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Sangre de Cristo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Saturday. As for La Veta, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kim/Branson at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Kim/Branson is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
