NEEDHAM, Mass. -
Needham (Mass.) jumped out to an early lead against
Newton North (Newtonville, Mass.) and never looked back on the way to a 41-12 victory on Saturday.
The Rockets put up seven points in the opening quarter. Needham scored on a touchdown pass by
Ryan Charters to
Mike Elcock.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Charters to Elcock in the first quarter, NHS was up 27-6 at the half.
The Rockets grew their lead to 35 points entering the fourth quarter. Needham scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by
Mikie Panepinto.
When the two teams played each other last season, NHS came away with a 23-8 victory.
Needham (2-1) goes up against Framingham in a Bay State - Carey game matchup next week, while Newton North (1-2) locks horns with Braintree also in a Bay State - Carey game.
