The Pickerington Central Tigers will square off against the Licking Heights Hornets at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Pickerington Central has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 18.
On Thursday, Pickerington Central came up short against Reynoldsburg and fell 3-1. While the Tigers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raiders 25-21 in the first set.
Pickerington Central started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 26-24, 25-22, 25-22.
Meanwhile, Licking Heights got the win against Northland on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
One reason for the win was Licking Heights' just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-11, 25-8.
Licking Heights found their leader in sophomore Evan Boren, who had 14 digs. Those 14 digs set a new season-high mark for Boren.
Licking Heights was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 25 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since the start of last season.
Licking Heights' victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. As for Pickerington Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
Pickerington Central skirted past Licking Heights 2-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
