Basketball Game Preview: Cabrillo Conquistadores vs. San Luis Obispo Tigers

Cabrillo is on a three-game streak of home wins, while San Luis Obispo is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Cabrillo Conquistadores will welcome the San Luis Obispo Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Cabrillo is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Templeton: they outscored them in every quarter. Cabrillo strolled past Templeton with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 53-34.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cabrillo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jasmyn Hughes, who made all 5 shots she took to post 10 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Hughes has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Mccune, who posted six points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Cabrillo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when San Luis Obispo took on Paso Robles on Friday. San Luis Obispo claimed a resounding 60-19 win over Paso Robles. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

San Luis Obispo has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for Cabrillo, their victory bumped their record up to 13-5.

Cabrillo was able to grind out a solid win over San Luis Obispo in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 38-28. Does Cabrillo have another victory up their sleeve, or will San Luis Obispo turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
