Basketball Recap: Hazen Drops Highest Score of Season Against Renton

There's no place like home for Hazen, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They took down the Renton Red Hawks 51-34 on Friday. The Highlanders' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Leading Hazen to victory were Sadie Hollander and Shae Gobunquin. Hollander went 8 for 20 on her way to 22 points and six rebounds, while Gobunquin posted 14 points and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hollander has scored at least a third of Hazen's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelica Nguyen, who put up three points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Hazen's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-7. As for Renton, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Hazen will look to defend their home court on December 27th against Kennedy Catholic at 7:15 p.m. As for Renton, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lindbergh at 7:00 p.m. on December 30th.
