After a string of five wins, Gridley's good fortune finally ran out  on Thursday. They came up short against  the Orland Trojans, falling  3-0. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Trojans this season,  with their most recent  loss being a  3-0  defeat  back in September.
 Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-19,  25-10.
 Avery Mendenhall paced Gridley's offense, picking up nine kills. Mendenhall got some help from  Isabel Santillan and her 21 assists. Santillan was also solid from the service line:  she led the team with three aces.
Gridley's loss dropped their record down to 22-11. As for Orland, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 31-4 record  this season.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Gridley is set to  face off against  their familiar foe Las Plumas  at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Orland will  challenge  rival Oroville  at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
