The Citrus Hill Hawks will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Loma Linda Academy Roadrunners at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Citrus Hill is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 91-53, which was the final score in Citrus Hill's tilt against Liberty on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Citrus Hill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1163rd, while Liberty is ranked 120th).
Despite their loss, Citrus Hill saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Roland Thibodeaux, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The matchup was Thibodeaux's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Jerren White was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Loma Linda Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 27 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 63-21 victory over River Springs Charter School Magnolia at home.
Citrus Hill has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Loma Linda Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
Citrus Hill came up short against Loma Linda Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2021, falling 49-37. Can Citrus Hill avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
