Broome is 0-10 against the Wolverines since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Broome Centurions will head out on the road to take on the Woodruff Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Carolina (Broome is ranked 167th, while the Wolverines are ranked 176th).
Last Tuesday, Broome came up short against the Fighting Tigers and fell 55-45. Broome has not had much luck with the Fighting Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite their loss, Broome saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Anaya Wofford, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Shamya Wilkins, who scored six points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Woodruff's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 44-18 walloping at the hands of Clinton. Woodruff found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 13 to 4 on offense.
Broome's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-14. As for Woodruff, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Broome have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 38.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Woodruff struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Broome might still be hurting after the 48-28 loss they got from the Wolverines in their previous meeting back in February of 2022. Can Broome avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
