Round Mountain hasn't had much luck against White Pine recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Round Mountain will welcome White Pine at 12:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Round Mountain's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Sandy Valley 22-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.
Samarah Swafford made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Swafford was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Baylee Dutton was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Layci Thibodeaux, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Round Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask White Pine). They were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over GV Christian on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Bobcats as they're now sitting on four straight.
White Pine got a massive performance out of Camden Johnson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Johnson a new career-high. Cecilia Barbosa was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
White Pine pushed their record up to 7-9 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Round Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Round Mountain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .453. However, it's not like White Pine struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Round Mountain suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to White Pine in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Round Mountain avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
