Basketball Recap: Veritas Christian Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Bethel Christian Academy last Friday, Veritas Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Veritas Christian Academy Warriors were outmatched by the Carolina Day Wildcats and fell 82-55. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost five in a row.

Veritas Christian Academy lost on Monday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Lee Burgess, who posted 22 points and eight rebounds. The game was Burgess' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Robbins, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards.

Veritas Christian Academy's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2. As for Carolina Day, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Veritas Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lake Lure Classical Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Veritas Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests. As for Carolina Day, they will head out to face off against Hickory Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Carolina Day is facing Hickory Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Hickory Christian Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
