Cocalico hasn't had much luck against Donegal recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Eagles will head out to face off against the Indians at 4:15 p.m. Cocalico has given up an average of 13.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Cocalico couldn't beat Manheim Central on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Eagles came up short against the Barons, falling 18-4.
Chloe Lesher made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run. That run marked the first that she has scored this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Donegal). They blew past Eastern Lebanon County 20-2 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Jordin Meyers was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 15 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Nyah Gibbs was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Coble, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Donegal kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Donegal's record is now 6-4. As for Cocalico, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cocalico hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Donegal struggles in that department as they've averaged .352. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cocalico might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Donegal when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
