The Northwood Timberwolves pushed their score all the way to 55 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of San Clemente. Northwood has struggled against San Clemente recently, as their match on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Northwood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Zaid Yunis. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points. Yunis is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games he's played. Ryan Abaye was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
San Clemente got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Christian Fernandez out in front who scored 18 points. The contest was Fernandez's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Porter Hansen, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Northwood's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for San Clemente, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Northwood's road trip will continue as they head out to face Los Osos at 7:00 p.m. on December 26th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Los Osos is ranked 101st, while Northwood is ranked 112th). San Clemente and Laguna Beach will round out the year against one another at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Laguna Beach is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
