Ash Fork/Seligman had lost five straight, but after bumping their record up to 2-5 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 17-8 margin over the Fredonia Lynx. The Spartans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jesus Ayala was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Ash Fork/Seligman: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-4 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Fernando Ayala, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and four runs. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jesus Trujillo was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.
As for Fredonia, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. The loss continues a trend for them in their meetings with Ash Fork/Seligman: they've now lost five in a row.
Like Ash Fork/Seligman, Fredonia also got a great game from a two-way player: Isaac Sample. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up four earned (and six unearned) runs off only two hits. Sample was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Bryce Bundy was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Ashley, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Ash Fork/Seligman will have a chance to go back-to-back against Fredonia: the pair will be back at it again later today.
