The ThunderRidge Grizzlies waltzed into their match on Friday with ten straight wins but they left with 11. They came out on top against Douglas County by a score of 76-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
ThunderRidge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Charlie Spann, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Spann hasn't dropped below 15points for eight straight games. Tommy Wight was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds.
Douglas County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Anthony Nettles, who scored 23 points along with six assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nettles has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Vaughn Baldwin, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
ThunderRidge's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.4 points per game. As for Douglas County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. ThunderRidge will take on Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Heritage focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday. As for Douglas County, they will be playing at home against Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Chaparral's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
