Last Saturday, Farmington faced Eldorado in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Farmington took a 44-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eldorado.
Griego Trel put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 224 yards and a touchdown. Trel is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. Meechan Jared got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, La Cueva entered their tilt with Sandia with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. La Cueva blew past Sandia, posting a 51-0 victory at home. The result was nothing new for La Cueva, who have now won six matches by 28 points or more so far this season.
Farmington has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for La Cueva, their victory was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3.
Farmington took a serious blow against La Cueva in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, falling 41-6. Thankfully for Farmington, Aidan Armenta (who threw for 283 yards and four touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
